The Swiss are divided in their opinion about the ESC 2025. In Geneva and Basel, however, there is great joy. The final decision on the venue will be made at the end of August.
The Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) will take place in either Basel or Geneva in 2025. Zurich and Bern/Biel, on the other hand, are out of the running, Swiss broadcaster announced. The preliminary decision will take into account criteria such as hall concept, public transport connections, sustainability, hotel bed situation, security and waste disposal concepts and overall support and motivation from the respective city, it said. The final decision on who will be awarded the contract will be made at the end of August. The cost of hosting the event is estimated at around 30 million euros.
According to a recently published survey, a narrow majority of Swiss people have a negative view of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The Swiss musical talent Nemo won this year’s edition in Malmö in May with the song “The Code”, thus bringing the ESC 2025 to the Swiss Confederation.
