Celebrity chef Sarah Wiener sat in the European Parliament for five years. Her political activities left her no time or energy for love.
In the 2010s, star chef Sarah Wiener was almost omnipresent on German television. But in 2019, the German-Austrian entered the European Parliament for the Austrian Greens. The 61-year-old now looked back on her political career and summed it up: “It’s difficult for my private life. I haven’t managed it well. I haven’t had a relationship in the past five years.”
Political career destroyed Sarah Wiener’s love life
The 61-year-old, who was married to actor Peter Lohmeyer from 2008 to 2014, did not run for the European elections again in 2024. Looking back, she notes that in recent years, due to her political activities, she lacked the “energy” for love and a relationship, as she was “very focused” during that period. “Love just needs time for two,” says Wiener, but now, after the end of her career in Brussels, she can “imagine that this will change again.”
The TV chef, who became known through formats such as “The Culinary Adventures of Sarah Wiener,” can certainly imagine a return to TV in the future. “I can be seen on ZDF’s ‘The Quiz Champion’ as a nutrition expert. I enjoy it so much,” she reveals. She already has clear ideas about her future on TV. “It should be entertaining and yet informative, that’s what I want. There has to be something between TV that helps you fall asleep and TV that makes noise,” says Wiener.
