In “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Hugh Jackman returns to his legendary role as a comic book hero. He had to endure a lot to achieve this.
For his return as a comic book hero, Hugh Jackman ate 6,000 calories a day for a while. He also did intensive weight training, as the 55-year-old explained. “Did I find it difficult? Yes, it was more difficult than ever before,” the Australian told the German Press Agency. “Part of me complained about it, another part loved it. I like the rigor. I like the discipline it brings. It’s even good for my head. I like having a goal.”
Jackman has returned to his legendary role as a comic book hero for “Deadpool & Wolverine”. He has played the Marvel character Wolverine in the “X-Men” films since 2000. Now he is playing alongside Ryan Reynolds in the only Marvel blockbuster of the year (cinema release July 24).
Jackman became a cult star in the “X-Men” series as a muscular protagonist with legendary sideburns. He wanted to get back to his very fit form for his new film. “Basically, it’s a good thing when you’re 55 and say you have to be as healthy, fit and strong as possible,” said Jackman.
Did he ever feel like he was tired of the hard training during the preparations? “I’m an actor,” Jackman joked. “I complain all the time.”
