Medical emergency for Lena Meyer-Landrut: The singer once again had to cancel a performance at short notice.
Three weeks ago, Lena Meyer-Landrut (33) had to cancel two performances in Munich and Wangen at short notice for health reasons. On Sunday evening (July 21), the singer was unable to appear on stage again and canceled her concert at the Ansbach Open on Sunday evening on the university campus just a few hours before it was due to begin. Her fans are worried.
Late on Sunday afternoon, it was announced: “Due to a medical emergency, Lena is unfortunately unable to perform with us in Ansbach this evening.” In a story by the singer, her team wrote that the incident was “unexpected.” “She is receiving medical treatment.” “Team Lena” also told fans: “We hope you understand this situation. It breaks Lena’s heart that she cannot play.”
Emergency on arrival
Wolfgang Bartusch, the chairman of the Ansbacher Kammerspiele, explained that the medical emergency occurred on the singer’s arrival and that she was taken to hospital. Even her band and stage crew, who had already started the sound check in Ansbach, were surprised by the cancellation. Lena Meyer-Landrut was actually supposed to give a double concert with Leony (27) at the end of the festival. Due to the cancellation, her colleague then gave an “extended solo show”.
As the “Fränkische Landeszeitung” further reported, the appointment in Ansbach had a special meaning for Lena Meyer-Landrut. In 2019, she was honored with the education award by the local university for her fight against cyberbullying and hate comments on social media. On Sunday evening, many fans expressed their concern on social media and wished the 2010 ESC winner a speedy recovery. The 33-year-old had already been suffering from health problems at the end of June. “I wasn’t feeling well during the day and then in the evening I got cramp-like stomach and kidney pains, had to throw up shortly before the show started and was then taken to a clinic,” she explained after her cancellation at the Tollwood Festival in Munich.
There are still three concerts until the end of July
Recently, fans had hoped that the singer was feeling better. On Friday, she performed in Plauen for the first time, but didn’t seem completely fit. She said during the concert: “I have the feeling that I’m not at 100 percent yet. I’d say I’m at about 70 percent.” Afterwards, she posted on Instagram: “You can’t imagine how happy I am to be back for you and to celebrate with you.” The next day, she sang in Wolfsburg. Now, another setback has followed. It is not yet known what the plans are for her next concerts in Regensburg (July 22), Stuttgart (July 26) and Echternach (July 27).
