Kim Cattrall has denied rumors about her participation in the third season of “And Just Like That…”
Many fans had hoped to see Kim Cattrall (67) again in her famous role as Samantha Jones from “Sex and the City”. But now the actress has denied the rumors that she will appear in the third season of the spin-off “And Just Like That…”.
Cattrall dashed hopes with one sentence. On Sunday, July 21, she denied speculation that she would reprise her role as Samantha Jones. A fan had asked if she would be in the third season, to which she wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Oh, that’s so nice, but that’s not me.”
After the second season, fans hoped for more Samantha
Rumors of Cattrall’s return for the third season, which is currently being filmed, have grown in recent days and been spread by many media outlets. In the first season, her role was only seen through text message exchanges with Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker, 59), but she then appeared briefly again in the finale of the second season, to the delight of fans. In the highly anticipated appearance, Samantha called Carrie from London and said she wanted to surprise her in New York City, but could not do so due to flight delays. Her character wore a silver jacket and a red ensemble by stylist Patricia Field (83), who designed the costumes in the original series. At the time, Cattrall said during an appearance on the talk show “The View”: “I just thought that if I come back, I have to come back with that Samantha style.”
She also did not want a third “Sex and the City” film
Kim Cattrall had previously spoken openly several times about not wanting to be part of the new show. In May 2022, she told Variety that she did not like the way her character was portrayed in the script for the never-produced third Sex and the City film. She called the portrayal “heartbreaking” and said it made her no longer want to reprise her role as Samantha. Cattrall also spoke about the difficulties of playing a character over several decades. “Everything has to grow, otherwise it dies. When the series ended, I thought that was smart. We’re not repeating ourselves. And then the movie to tie up all the loose ends. And then there’s another movie. And then there’s another movie?”
