Keanu Reeves: Thinking about death is positive

Keanu Reeves’ first novel is about an immortal warrior, and he himself constantly thinks about death. Which is not a negative thing for him.

No wonder there are so many photos of Keanu Reeves looking sad, you might think (keyword: “Sad Keanu”): The actor often thinks about death. He just revealed this. After all, he is already 59 years old, so he constantly thinks about his mortality.

But for the “Matrix” star, the constant presence of death in his mind has nothing negative to do with it. “Hopefully it’s not paralyzing, hopefully it makes us more aware of the breath we have and the relationships we can have.”

Keanu Reeves’ first novel about a demigod who wants to die

The reason for reflecting on death was the publication of Keanu Reeves’ first novel. It is about an immortal warrior who wants to become mortal. “The Book of Elsewhere” will be available in English-speaking countries from July 23rd.

Reeves wrote the novel together with British sci-fi author China Miéville (51). However, the actor downplays his influence on the work. “I didn’t write a novel,” he told the BBC. “China wrote a novel.” He only contributed to it.

“The Book of Elsewhere” is set in the world of “BRZRKR”, Keanu Reeves’ successful comic book series. “BRZRKR” (pronounced: Berserker) is about the immortal demigod B, who fights his way through the centuries. With his black beard and long black hair, the character drawn by Ron Garney is clearly reminiscent of Reeves, as we know him from the “John Wick” films.

In addition to the novel spin-off, there will also be an animated series and a film that Keanu Reeves may direct himself.
