The Bibi Blocksberg brand is celebrating its 45th anniversary next year. There is a new movie to mark the occasion.
A new Bibi Blocksberg film will be released in cinemas on December 25, 2025. According to the production company, the first shot was taken at the end of June. Filming will take place in Vienna, Krems an der Donau, Munich and the surrounding area and is scheduled to last until mid-August.
In the new cinematic adventure, young witch Bibi Blocksberg and her friends are allowed to attend the international witches’ congress for the first time, which only takes place every 13 1/3 years. But from the very beginning, nothing goes as planned and when Bibi’s witchcraft finally gets out of control, the situation escalates.
Gregor Schnitzler (“The School of Magical Animals”, “Play Instinct”) is directing the new film based on a screenplay by Bettina Börgerding. The songs were written by the trio Peter Plate, Ulf Leo Sommer and Joshua Lange. The main roles are played by actress Nala as Bibi, Carla Demmin as Schubia, Philomena Amari as Flauipaui and Fia-Marie Lin (“The Voice Kids”) as Marita.
The adult roles include Rosalie Thomass (“The Kangaroo Chronicles”, “Grump”) as Bibi’s mother, Friedrich Mücke (“Wunderschön”, “Balloon”, “Friendship”) as Bibi’s father and Heike Makatsch as the witch Servera.
In 2025, the Bibi Blocksberg brand will celebrate its 45th anniversary. When the first Bibi Blocksberg radio play episode “There are witches” was released on August 4, 1980, it was the start of a success story: the series has been at the top of the children’s audio charts for years. There are now 152 radio play episodes, 68 cartoons and countless books. The little witch’s radio plays and films have sold millions of copies.
