Folk music star Stefanie Hertel travels a lot. She finds relaxation at home with her diverse interests.
Stefanie Hertel (45) is one of the most famous pop singers in Germany. While she likes to show different facets of herself professionally – for example with her family country band or as a musical actress – she relies on stability in her private life. For her 45th birthday on July 25, we have five facts that show what makes the folk music star tick.
She has the Zipfelpass
Stefanie Hertel is one of the proud holders of the Zipfelpass. You receive this if you have visited all four “tips” of Germany within four years: List in the north, Göritz in the east, Oberstdorf in the south and Selfkant in the west. Among the thousands who have already had the corresponding stamps issued are several celebrities and politicians who naturally travel a lot due to their jobs. In addition to Hertel, these include actor Wolfgang Stumph (78), presenter Jürgen von der Lippe (75) and comedian Otto (76).
She is a passionate herbalist
To compensate for her many appointments all over Germany, the now 45-year-old prefers to spend time outdoors. She probably inherited her love of nature from her grandmother Erna. She lived right next to the forest and passed on a wealth of knowledge about plants and herbs to her granddaughter. In her free time, Hertel loves to collect medicinal plants in her adopted home in Chiemgau and process them into delicacies or ointments. She recently summarized her wealth of experience in this field in a book. “The Wonderful World of Herbs” was published in February. In interviews, she readily admitted that she had “always been a little herbal witch.”
She celebrated her rose wedding anniversary with husband number 2
In contrast to her famous ex-husband Stefan Mross (48), who had to deal with two more failed marriages after their separation in 2011, Hertel’s private life has been quiet. Shortly after the end of her marriage with Mross, she got together with the Austrian musician Lanny Lanner (49), and on April 20, 2014, the couple tied the knot – and ten years later, they seem as happy as ever. “Love is… 10 wonderful years of you and me. I love you,” wrote the singer in a photo of them looking at each other intimately, which was – of course – taken while walking their dogs. The couple, who have no children together, also work together professionally. Together with Hertel’s daughter Johanna (22) from his first marriage, they form the country band More than Words, which will be going on a big Christmas tour at the end of November.
She likes to wear jeans
The singer, who had her musical breakthrough at the age of 13 with her song “Über jeder Bacherl geht a Brückerl”, was previously known primarily in pretty dirndl dresses. In her private life, however, she prefers to keep things casual and uncomplicated. She is usually seen in jeans, which she now also wears on stage. In spring 2015, she combined both fashion styles in a rock-style dirndl creation with a denim look.
She has a sporty morning routine
Sport is one of Hertel’s many interests and skills. Her husband Lanny Lanner revealed in 2022: “We live in Chiemgau and are very sporty. In winter we go skiing and cross-country skiing, otherwise mountain biking, tennis, golf.” Stefanie Hertel added that there is “often no time” for golf. But she also revealed that even the musicians start their mornings with plenty of exercise: “Going jogging with the dogs is how we start every day.”
