Sandra Bullock: Many successes, an Oscar – and a great love

She is turning 60: Sandra Bullock was born on July 26, 1964, the daughter of a German opera singer and an American singing teacher. She spent the first twelve years of her life in Germany before moving to the USA with her family.

It took a while for her acting career to take off. At first she only got small roles and had to take jobs as a cleaner and waitress alongside acting. In the mid-90s she celebrated her breakthrough with the action films “Demolition Man” (1993) and “Speed” (1994). She had reached her peak with “Miss Congeniality” (2000). In the comedy Bullock played an FBI agent who infiltrates a beauty pageant to investigate behind the scenes.

In “The Blind Side,” Sandra Bullock plays a woman who looks after a disadvantaged boy. She recognizes his football talent – and helps him find happiness in the sport. She won the Oscar for Best Actress in 2010 for this role. It was the high point of her professional career.

Last year, her husband Bryan Randall died at just 57 years old. At 60, Sandra Bullock is a widow and a single mother.
