The official website of the British palace has not yet added the birth of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s daughter Lilibet to the official succession list. The relationship between the Sussexes and the royal family is considered icy.
Seven weeks after her birth, Lilibet Diana, the daughter of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, is still missing from the official list of British succession. The Royal Family website does list her brother Archie, but does not list the Royal Family’s latest addition. Actually, Lilibet’s name should be in eighth place, with her birth she pushed Prince Andrew to ninth place. But while in the past the palace would quickly update the page on such events, it still is.
In a recent podcast, the Royal expert on British TV station ITV, Chris Ship, speculated about the reasons behind it. “You have to ask yourself why they are taking so long. All you have to do is insert a paragraph and change the number,” says Ship. They would have done the same with Archie before, also when William’s third child Louis was born or most recently in February when Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie became a mother. “So where is Lilibet? I could forgive you a week or two, but a whole month?”
Lilibet is missing from the list of succession to the throne: The palace looks a bit stubborn
The whole thing seems a bit stubborn. “Do you mean to say that you will only deal with it when you are ready? It seems to me as if you are perhaps trying to say something,” said the expert. The palace, on the other hand, let it be known that the website would be updated at regular intervals.
For the birth of Lilibet, the Queen, along with Charles, Camilla, Kate and William, had official congratulations through a spokeswoman. Harry’s brother Prince William and his sister-in-law Duchess Kate even congratulated them separately in an Instagram post. Allegedly, Harry and Meghan even planned to baptize little Lili like her brother Archie in England – in the presence of the Queen in the chapel of Windsor Castle.
However, this seems unlikely given recent developments. The relationship between the Sussex couple and the rest of the Royal Family has been considered icy since the scandalous interview with Oprah Winfrey. At the beginning of the week Harry had also announced that he would publish his memoirs in the fall of 2022. Observers of the royal family see this as an affront in particular, because the publication falls in the year of the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s throne with many celebrations. A reconciliation between the prince and his family is not in sight.
