Harvey Weinstein has been transferred to a clinic. The 72-year-old, who is currently serving a prison sentence for sexual offenses, is suffering from many health problems.
Harvey Weinstein is in hospital. The film mogul, who was convicted of sexual offenses, was transferred from Rikers Island to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan on Thursday, his representatives announced. The 72-year-old is being treated there for several health problems, including a corona infection and pneumonia. According to a statement from Weinstein’s spokesman, he also suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis and has fluid in his heart and lungs.

In the corresponding statement, the spokesman thanked Weinstein on behalf of the prison for the quick transfer from the prison to a closed ward of the clinic: “We thank the officers, doctors and nurses who ensured that Mr. Weinstein was immediately transferred, and we will continue to work hand in hand with them to ensure that Mr. Weinstein receives appropriate medical treatment.”
Weinstein is currently waiting for the next trial in the wake of the #metoo debate. He was already sentenced to 23 years in prison for sexual assault and rape in New York and California. However, the verdict was overturned due to procedural errors. The next hearing is scheduled for November. For now, however, he must remain in prison because he was sentenced to 16 years in prison in another case of sexual abuse in Los Angeles. The film mogul is also taking legal action against this, but so far there has been no decision. Weinstein still denies ever having sexually abused anyone.
