Because it was Midler who asked for her then-boyfriend’s hand in marriage and not the other way around. “I’m impulsive,” the actress recently said in another interview with “Entertainment Tonight.” Midler explained in 2020 what fascinated her about her current husband. “I knew immediately that Martin was outrageous when I first met him,” quoted Yahoo. “I liked the fact that he wasn’t afraid to be different, that he was an outsider like I am, that he wasn’t complacent, that he set himself apart from the mainstream.”
Midler and von Haselberg have a daughter together, Sophie von Haselberg, who also works as an actress.
