Lady Gaga co-opened the 2024 Summer Olympics with a reinterpretation of Zizi Jeanmaire’s “Mon truc en plumes”.
While the delegations of the participating countries sailed on boats along a parade route of about six kilometers, Lady Gaga (38) provided the first highlight during the several-hour opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
“Good evening and welcome to Paris”
After a first block of delegations had set off, the US superstar walked down a golden staircase on the bank relatively early in the ceremony. She was initially covered by a group of dancers with pink fans made of feathers. “Good evening and welcome to Paris,” said Lady Gaga in French before presenting a version of Zizi Jeanmaire’s (1924-2020) revue piece “Mon truc en plumes”. The singer also sat at a grand piano for the rousing performance. Impressions of the show can be found at the Olympic Games in Paris, among others.
Lady Gaga had already been spotted in Paris in the past few days. This had already caused all sorts of speculation beforehand. Many had assumed that the singer would perform at the opening ceremony. Among other things, there were reports that she could sing the Édith Piaf classic “La vie en rose” in a duet with fellow megastar Céline Dion (56), who is also said to be performing. At the time of publication of the article, the opening ceremony is still ongoing and there has not been a Dion appearance so far.
