In mid-June, Justin Timberlake was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol. His lawyer is pushing for the case to be dropped.
Just a few weeks after the start of his “The Forget Tomorrow World Tour”, former boy band star Justin Timberlake (43) was arrested near New York on June 18th and ended up in one of the infamous “mug shots” – the obligatory photo taken by police authorities and always published. On July 26th, his lawyer Edward Burke Jr. pushed for the case to be dropped. The singer was not drunk behind the wheel and therefore should not have been arrested.
the lawyer made the following statement on the ongoing case after a court hearing: “He was not drunk. I’ll say it again. Justin Timberlake was not drunk. And we are very confident that this charge – this criminal charge – will be dismissed.”
Lawyer criticizes “serious errors” by police
In a further statement from the lawyer, it is said that the police made “serious errors” when arresting his prominent client, and that the arrest was generally not lawful. He finally added to his remarks: “Justin respects law enforcement and their very important work. He cooperated with police officers at all times and treated them with the respect they deserve. He also respects the entire legal process, including the prosecutor and the judge who were in the courtroom today.” However, the fact remains that the singer was not drunk on the night in question.
According to one report, Timberlake refused to take a breathalyzer test before his arrest for reasons that are still unclear and later stated that he had only drunk “one martini” in a bar before driving.
