Taylor Swift is playing her penultimate German concert in Munich as part of her “Eras” tour. Even extreme heat doesn’t deter her fans.
In temperatures of around 30 degrees, Taylor Swift fans waited for several hours for the megastar before her concert at Munich’s Olympic Stadium. According to a police spokesman, the concert organizer distributed thousands of blankets to protect the fans from the sun and huge amounts of water.
As a dpa reporter observed, however, the water did not reach many people waiting in front of the Olympic Stadium to be admitted. Circulatory collapses also occurred, said the police spokesman. He was unable to give an exact number of those affected. Many visitors missed the opening acts because they were queuing for water.
The German Weather Service had previously issued an official heat warning for Munich. Strong heat stress was expected until 7 p.m. At 5 p.m. it was still 31.9 degrees Celsius in Munich, a DWD spokesperson said in the evening.
Pop singer Taylor Swift will be giving the last two concerts in Germany this weekend as part of her “Eras” tour. Before that, she performed in Gelsenkirchen and Hamburg. The tickets for these were sold out within a few hours.
According to the city, the Olympic Stadium can hold up to 72,000 people. In addition, many fans gathered on the nearby Olympic Hill, where they wanted to listen to the concert for free.
The weather forecast for the pop singer’s last concert in Germany on Sunday is more pleasant. “The temperatures are significantly cooler, it won’t be quite as warm,” said a DWD spokesperson. Maximum temperatures of around 25 degrees are expected.
