How exercise before bed impacts your sleep, according to experts

The research, published in BMJ Open Sport & Exercise Medicinewas carried out with 28 participants between 18 and 40 years old, and consisted of doing 3 minutes of exercises every 30 minutes for 4 hours. These exercises were squats, heel raises, and knee to chest raises.

The result of the study was positive, since with night exercise Sleep duration improves by approximately 27 minutes and nighttime awakenings are avoided.

In this regard, María José Martínez, coordinator of the Chronobiology working group of the Spanish Sleep Society, agrees with the research, as long as it involves light exercises and the person is not exhausted afterwards.
