The prosecution wants to get in court that the new allegations can be used in the upcoming trial against Kelly. The trial is due to begin on August 9 with the selection of the jury.

The R&B singer (“I Believe I Can Fly”) has been in custody since his arrest in 2019. The process originally scheduled for May 2020 has been postponed several times due to the corona pandemic. Kelly, who protests his innocence, is charged, among other things, with sexual abuse of minors and coercion. There are also long indictments against the singer in Chicago and Minnesota.
