Step by step: how to prepare a Tres Leches cake, the favorite dessert of “Maligno” Torres

Tres Leches Cake Recipe

This recipe will take approximately 1.30 hours and will serve eight people.

Ingredients

For the cake:

  • 6 eggs
  • 200 grams of sugar (1 cup)
  • 200 grams of flour
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

For the cream:

  • 1 can of condensed milk (large)
  • 1 can evaporated milk (large)
  • 1 can of heavy cream (large)

For the meringue:

  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 cup sugar (to taste)

Step by Step

Biscuit:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 ºC.
  2. Beat the eggs until they become foamy, then add the sugar little by little and continue beating until it triples in size.
  3. Add the previously sifted flour and baking powder, and mix using circular movements. It is advisable to add it little by little so that it is easier to integrate. Also add the vanilla essence and continue mixing.
  4. Grease and flour a baking pan and place the mixture in it. Cook for 25 to 30 minutes. To check the doneness, you can prick the dough with a toothpick. If it comes out dry, it is ready.
  5. Remove and allow to cool. Place the mixture in a baking dish and pour it into the oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes.

Three Milk Cream

Mix the contents of the three cans (condensed milk, evaporated milk and cream) in a container with sufficient capacity and blend. It is advisable to use a mixer, electric whisk or blender.

Meringue

You simply have to beat the egg whites until stiff and gradually add the sugar. You have to beat until the meringue acquires the right consistency. The amount of sugar is up to you.

Assembly

Once the cake has rested, pour the tres leches mixture over it and let it soak in completely. It will probably take about an hour for the tres leches cake to soak in the mixture, depending on how thick it is.

After the cake has absorbed the mixture, decorate with the previously prepared meringue and, if desired, sprinkle with cinnamon or cocoa powder.
