Millions of people still have the whispered phrase “And who should be your sweetheart?” in their ears. The dating show classic is now returning to television, at least in Austria.
Comeback for the mother of all dating shows: The TV show “Herzblatt” is coming back. Starting next year, Austrian television wants to bring couples together in a taxi. “ORF 1 is now making the cult dating brand mobile and bringing it back to the screens with a newly developed format,” the broadcaster in Vienna announced. “For the candidates of “Herzblatt Taxi” there is “love to go” when they flirt in an e-bus across Austria.”
Taxi with partition
Host and presenter Tina Ritschl plays Cupid: “She takes the wheel of the “Herzblatt Taxi” and sets off on a journey to some of the most beautiful places in all nine federal states with a single person at her side. Romance, adventure and spontaneous challenges await the three potential date partners on the way, who take their seats hidden behind a partition in the back of the bus.”
ORF 1 promises “intensive conversations”, “personal answers” – for example to the question: “Which TV character do I remind you of?” and “entertaining challenges”. People are supposed to create a playlist on Partnereuche. “Who do you have chemistry with?”
Cult show with a long history
At the end, the single person has to decide which of the three candidates has the most chemistry. They can then get to know each other better on a date in a romantic setting. The nine episodes are expected to be shown on ORF 1 and ORF ON in 2025. Singles longing for big feelings can now apply for “Herzblatt Taxi – Love to Take Away” at tv.ORF.at/herzblatttaxi.
The show has a long and varied history. Rudi Carrell made the show on German television from 1987. With various presenters – including Rainhard Fendrich and Hera Lind – and more than 400 episodes up until the 2000s, “Herzblatt” became a TV classic. Millions of viewers still have the whispered timbre of the studio voice Susi in their ears, who always said at the end: “So, who should be your sweetheart?” Later, various broadcasters launched short-lived new editions based on the show.
