It is set to be a superlative show, with a specially constructed stadium and a huge screen. After weeks of preparation, everything in Munich is now ready for pop queen Adele.
There is still work to be done and the fine-tuning is being done, but the organizers and management are relaxed: In Munich, the concert stadium specially built for the British pop superstar Adele is ready for the rush on Friday. And the 36-year-old, who sometimes struggles with vocal cord problems, also seems fit for the big show: Adele is excited, but looking forward to the premiere, said manager Jonathan Dickens after the last rehearsal in the afternoon.
73,000 fans from home and abroad are expected in the pop-up stadium, which is tailored exactly to the singer’s needs. Adele, those responsible say in unison, has been very involved in the development. “She looks everywhere. Behind the scenes, in the corners, behind the corners. She is very interested in everything that happens here,” reported production manager Matthias Krüger.
It was important to Adele that everything had a personal touch and that the fans felt comfortable, explained Krüger. Accordingly, the Adele theme park has many references to the exceptional singer’s career, such as a red telephone box known from a video or an “I Drink Wine” bar. Adele was also personally involved in the design of the arena, which is kept in black and white tones and characterized by a puristic design.
When the concert series is over, the huge area will be dismantled as quickly as possible – including 100,000 square meters of water-permeable tar, which is intended to prevent fans from standing in puddles during cloudbursts. The arena, however, will not be rebuilt anywhere else, assured organizer Marek Lieberberg: “Never before and never again – this show will only take place here, only in Munich and only in this form.”
