Amira Pocher: But back to her maiden name

Amira Pocher: But back to her maiden name

Clarification in the name dispute between Oliver and Amira Pocher: The presenter apparently wants to take her original surname again.

Is peace finally returning to Amira (31) and Oliver Pocher (46)? On July 29, around a year after their separation, the couple met for the official divorce hearing. In the days before, the comedian did not hold back with public taunts against his ex-wife and repeatedly demanded that she drop his last name. Amira, whose maiden name is Aly, refused. But now she apparently wants to go back to her old last name, as Oliver Pocher reports in the new episode of his podcast “Die Pochers! Frisch recycled” (exclusively on Podimo).

Right at the beginning of the latest episode with his first wife Sandy Meyer-Wölden (41), Pocher demonstratively calls his recently divorced second ex-wife “Amira Aly”. According to the comedian, she will actually “take her original name again”.

Amira Pocher: “I don’t even want that name”

“There was also this discussion about the name, about everything surrounding it. I explained it sufficiently why I think that we shouldn’t have this name anymore and that it shouldn’t be taken for granted,” he explains. According to Pocher, Amira finally emphasized in court “quite smugly”: “Yes, I don’t want to have the name at all.”

Pocher couldn’t understand why Amira refused to go back to Aly. “What are you giving up? Because the only one paying here is me. I never get anything for free in court. […] “I’m always the one who has to pay for something for someone,” he says angrily.

Sandy Meyer-Wölden does not understand the name discussion

Sandy Meyer-Wölden, whose last name was also Pocher until her divorce from Oliver Pocher in 2014, also cannot understand why Amira is sticking to the name. “Without making any judgements,” it would have been “not an option” for her to keep his last name – she had voluntarily dropped it despite her complicated maiden name. The American by choice does not want “there to be two or three Mrs. Pochers running around.”

“I still think Amira is great,” Meyer-Wölden clarifies. She has a lot of understanding for her pain and hopes that the two women, who were actually good friends, will find each other again.

Divorce “not yet final”

Despite all the anger, the divorce hearing has been keeping Oliver Pocher very busy in the past few days. “It’s not a great hearing. There’s nothing glorious about what’s happening. Nothing great, nothing to look forward to,” he explains. His ex was also “very emotional” in court, and “a lot of tears were shed.” However, the divorce is “to be honest, not yet legally binding.”

Before the responsible judge, it was “decided that nothing should go wrong now and then this divorce will only be announced.” It will be delivered to both parties and their lawyers in writing. Oliver Pocher assumes that this will happen in the coming days: “And then it will be legally binding. And then it will really be over.”
