Halle Berry: Petition against ex rejected by court

Actually, Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have been divorced since 2023. However, things between the two are not yet clearly resolved.

US actress Halle Berry (57) wanted to force her ex-husband Olivier Martinez (58) to stick to the joint custody agreement by filing a court application. However, the responsible court, the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County, rejected Berry’s application.

Specifically, the application was about an agreement from the end of May. The actress and her ex-husband had agreed to “co-parenting therapy” with a coach in order to “resolve disputes and conflicts between them” and successfully raise their son Maceo (9) together, “People” quoted from the court documents.

“Already strained relationship”

In the new documents, Berry now claims that Martinez failed to continue visiting the coach. He “unilaterally terminated” the coaching sessions without telling her or the coach. Martinez “chose to repeatedly violate agreements and court orders with negligent consideration.” His behavior is damaging her son and the “already strained relationship” between the two ex-partners.

She and Martinez signed an agreement on May 29th that stipulated that both would attend individual sessions with a coach and then begin joint sessions with the co-parenting therapist. “None of that happened,” People quoted from the documents. “In fact, not a single joint session was scheduled.” Instead, Martinez wanted to postpone the sessions until September so that she could spend the summer in France.

The actress is said to have then asked the court to force Olivier Martinez to comply with the agreement “until Monday, July 29”. Specifically, this involved a joint meeting at the end of July and a previously agreed schedule for August. However, the judge in charge rejected the request on Thursday (August 1) because there were “no urgent circumstances”.

Divorce was official in August 2023

Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez finalized their divorce in August 2023 – eight years after their marriage ended. At that time, it was determined that they would share custody of their son Maceo. Berry agreed to pay Martinez $8,000 a month in child support. She will also pay him “4.3 percent of any income over $2,000,000” as additional support. Berry will also cover the costs of her son’s private school, uniforms and school supplies, as well as all extracurricular activities.

Martinez and Berry were a couple from 2010 to 2015. The two met on the set of the film “Dark Tide” (2012). After two years of marriage, the two filed for divorce. In December 2016, a judge ruled that Berry and Martinez were legally single, but the ex-partners continued to negotiate custody and child support.
