On Monday, Oliver Pocher and Amira Pocher met in court in Cologne. The couple’s divorce is almost finalized. One of the comedian’s wishes has been fulfilled: his ex-wife will take her maiden name again.
During the Corona pandemic, Oliver Pocher and Amira Pocher became a brand together. They started their couple podcast “Die Pochers hier”, appeared in live recordings and almost only appeared as a pair. “When I met Olli, he was touring clubs in Germany and they weren’t 1,000-capacity venues, there were 200, 300 people and I controlled the screen behind him and helped him on his tour,” the trained make-up artist recently explained in her own podcast. This made her even angrier when Pocher said that his ex-wife should drop his last name because she would benefit from it. “I don’t need that name. I’ll always get by in life somehow,” said Amira.
Amira Pocher becomes Amira Aly again
In fact, she will now return to her maiden name Aly, as Oliver Pocher announced in his podcast with ex-wife Sandy Meyer-Wölden. Right at the beginning of the latest episode, Pocher demonstratively calls his recently divorced second ex-wife “Amira Aly”. “There was also this discussion about the name, about everything surrounding it. I have also explained sufficiently why I think that one should no longer have this name and that it is not a matter of course,” he also explained. According to him, his ex-wife emphasized in court “quite smugly”: “I don’t want the name at all.”

In a conversation with her ex-husband, Meyer-Wölden revealed that she herself had never wanted to keep his last name, even though her double name was difficult to use in the USA, where she lives. Nevertheless, she did not want “there to be two or three Mrs. Pochers running around.”
It remains to be seen when Amira Pocher will officially appear again as Amira Aly. When this article was published, she still used the name Pocher on her public channels.
