Tom Cruise: Big stunt planned for Olympic closing ceremony

Hollywood star Tom Cruise is apparently planning a spectacular stunt at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris.

Hollywood star Tom Cruise (62) is apparently set to be part of the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris. According to several US media reports, the “Mission: Impossible” actor is set to perform an “epic” stunt during the ceremony on August 11th.

Tom Cruise hands over the Olympic flag to LA

Cruise has been training for months for a parachute jump with which he will officially mark the handover of the games to the next host city: the Summer Games will take place in Los Angeles in 2028. Cruise will first swing from the roof of the Stade de France onto the stadium’s playing field. He will have the Olympic flag in tow. The TV broadcast of the Olympic closing ceremony will then show a two-minute, pre-recorded clip in which Cruise takes the flag from France to Los Angeles by plane. There he will jump out of the plane and land with the flag on the famous Hollywood sign in the mountains above LA.

“TMZ” shared several photos from the filming, which is said to have taken place in March 2024. According to the site, several Olympic athletes will also appear in the clip and help Cruise transport the flag from Paris to LA.

Big Olympic fan

The idea for the stunt is said to have come from the actor himself and was presented to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by him. Tom Cruise is a big fan of the Olympic Games and was one of the bearers of the Olympic torch before the 2004 Games in Athens. He will be at the Games again this year: on July 26th he attended the opening ceremony and since then he has been in the audience at several competitions, including gymnastics and swimming.

The report about Tom Cruise’s alleged stunt has not yet been officially confirmed. The closing ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Paris will take place on August 11th. In Germany, the ceremony will be broadcast live on ZDF and Eurosport.
