Is it looking up now? Heinz Hoenig has spoken personally for the first time in a video from the hospital.
These are pictures that give hope: Heinz Hoenig (72) has been fighting for his life in the intensive care unit for more than 100 days, but now the actor can get up again and even stand. For the first time, he also addressed his fans with a video message. Wife Annika Kärsten-Hönig (39) shared a video in which the 72-year-old looks very thin, but still significantly fitter than recently.
“There’s a fighter’s heart beating in your chest,” Annika writes in the video that she published in her story. “Success is not a destination… but a journey!” In the clip, Hoenig, supported by his wife, slowly gets up from the hospital bed, stands for a few seconds with her in his arms and gives her a kiss. These are the first pictures of the acting star in three months that show him not lying in bed.
First personal words to his fans
But that’s not all: A little later, Heinz Hoenig also spoke personally from the hospital! In a video, the 72-year-old said: “Hello, fans, dear colleagues. I would like to sincerely thank you for helping me so much.” He was confident and grateful: “I’m still in the hospital, everything is being repaired there. And I have a good wife who cares. And two small children who I want to go back to. Everything will be fine. I thank you.”
As he speaks to the camera, Hoenig sits in a hospital bed with a tracheostomy on his neck to help him breathe. The actor has lost a significant amount of weight.
Heinz Hoenig had to be resuscitated
It is not known when the videos were recorded. Only a few days ago, his wife told the magazine “Bunte” that Heinz Hoenig had to be resuscitated around two weeks ago. But there is also some positive news: Hoenig is no longer being ventilated orally, but can breathe independently via the tracheostomy. The actor can also walk a few meters with a walker.
Breathing independently is an important step, as it is necessary for the life-saving heart operation on the aorta, which the actor has been waiting for for three months now, as Kärsten-Hoenig recently revealed to the “Bild” newspaper. Heinz Hoenig was taken to a Berlin hospital in critical condition at the beginning of May. He has been in intensive care since then.
