“Bill & Ted” stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reunite for a new Broadway production of “Waiting for Godot.”
Hollywood stars Keanu Reeves (59) and Alex Winter (59) have already experienced many adventures together in the absurd “Bill & Ted” comedies. Now the two actors and close friends are conquering Broadway together. The two will be seen in New York in autumn 2025 in a production of the play “Waiting for Godot” by Samuel Beckett (1906-1989).
Beckett’s play is considered a classic of absurd theatre and is about the two vagabonds Estragon and Vladimir, who wait for the arrival of a mysterious title character named Godot – who never appears. Reeves will play Estragon in the production, Winter will take on the role of Vladimir.
Absurd Broadway debut for Keanu Reeves
For Keanu Reeves, this theatrical reunion with his “Bill & Ted” colleague marks his Broadway debut. Alex Winter has already appeared on Broadway in the 1979 musical “Peter Pan”. The new version of “Waiting for Godot” will be directed by the well-known theater director Jamie Lloyd (43).
Reeves and Winter announced their future collaboration on the Broadway stage in a joint statement, saying: “We are incredibly excited to be on stage together and to work with the amazing Jamie Lloyd in one of our favorite plays.”
Director Jamie Lloyd is also enthusiastic and comments on the theatrical coup with the following words: “It is a great honour to work with the brilliant Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter on Samuel Beckett’s magnificent masterpiece – one of the greatest plays of all time.”
