The daughter of the late actor Heath Ledger rarely appears in public. Now she was seen in New York.
Matilda Ledger was just two years old when her father Heath Ledger died in 2008 at the age of just 28. Despite her famous father, who was posthumously awarded an Oscar for his portrayal of the Joker, the now 18-year-old grew up away from the limelight. Public appearances are rare. However, pictures now show Ledger together with her mother Michelle Williams (43) in New York.
The photos were taken on July 31st in New York City. Matilda, who looks just like her father, walks hand in hand with her mother through the streets of the American metropolis. The mother-daughter duo has apparently treated themselves to a beauty day, because in further photos the two can be seen waiting in a nail salon.
Sole heir to Heath Ledger’s fortune
Matilda Ledger was born in 2005, shortly after Heath Ledger met his acting colleague Michelle Williams on the set of the film “Brokeback Mountain”. The couple separated in 2008, and a few months later the Hollywood star died of an accidental overdose of medication.
The year after his death, Williams spoke to Vogue about her attempt to keep Heath Ledger alive for his daughter. “She gets to know her father in so many ways and so many of his friends who can tell her so many stories. His friends, his family – they were a big part of his life and they will be a big part of her life,” she said at the time.
Matilda inherited her father’s entire fortune. “Our family gave everything to Matilda,” Ledger’s father Kim explained. “That was the plan from the moment my boy died. There was never any question that Heath’s estate would go to Matilda. We are very close to Michelle and Matilda.”
