Justin Timberlake pleaded not guilty at a hearing. For the time being, he is no longer allowed to drive in New York.
Justin Timberlake (43) is accused of drunk driving. At a hearing in a US court, the singer has now pleaded “not guilty”, as several US media outlets have reported. Even though Timberlake has not yet been convicted, he will have to leave the car at home as soon as he returns to New York. The 43-year-old’s driving license for the US state has been revoked for the time being. According to Timberlake’s lawyer, this is a standard procedure in such cases.
What’s supposed to have happened?
Timberlake’s lawyer also emphasized once again that his client was not drunk when he was arrested in June. The singer was arrested a few weeks ago after he was allegedly driving around in a BMW while “drunk.” According to a police statement, he failed to stop at a stop sign and failed to stay in his lane. Timberlake is also said to have spoken slowly and been unsteady on his feet. Timberlake told the police that he had drunk “a martini.”
“Justin Timberlake was not drunk”
“He was not drunk. I’ll say it again. Justin Timberlake was not drunk,” the lawyer said after another hearing in July. “And we are very confident that this charge – this criminal charge – will be dismissed.” At the hearing, the lawyer had pushed for the case to be dismissed. Another hearing is scheduled for August 9, but Timberlake does not have to attend. A preliminary court date is planned for September 13.
Timberlake took part in the current hearing via video link because he is currently in Europe for a tour. In August and September he will also perform in Munich, Cologne and Hamburg, among other places.
