The colorful town of Misiones with rivers, streams and reserves ideal for connecting with nature and enjoying its walks

The name of this place comes from a phrase of one of the first people to arrive at the mouth of the Guarambocá Creek… “what a magnificent place!” Since then, the town has been known as The Proud.

The population came mostly from Brazil through a private colonization program and mixed with the existing population, which was scarce because they were only laborers from the wild yerba mate and wood factories; their origins were varied, but many were mensues in other areas of the province (the center and the upper Paraná), with the Uruguay River being the main communication route to the urban centers, from and to which merchandise was transported in “barges” pulled by wooden boats.

The current population was also formed when, at the beginning of the 20th century, some rafters from Brazil settled here, who were in charge of maneuvering the large rafts made of logs called jangadas downriver. Some of these rafters and other people, such as the first colonizer Don Arturo Henn and the first teacher Fenocchio, were the ones who, over the years, forged this new settlement and founded the town in 1946.
