Cyber-Bullying: Harry and Meghan launch parent network on online abuse

The British prince and his wife want to help parents whose children have committed suicide after online harassment.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have started a support network for parents because of their own experiences with online harassment. The network wants to campaign for internet companies and politicians to make greater efforts to protect young users from harassment, according to the website. In a pilot project, “The Parents Network” brought together parents of children and young people who took their own lives after being abused and slandered online, according to a report on the US television channel CBS.

In the “Sunday Morning” program, Duchess Meghan emphasized that she was speaking about her own experience of suicidal thoughts in order to save other lives. “I haven’t really scratched the surface of my experiences yet, but I don’t think I would ever want anyone else to feel the way I do,” Meghan said. She first spoke about her suicidal thoughts three years ago in a conversation with presenter Oprah Winfrey during her much-discussed withdrawal from the British royal family.

The pre-recorded interview with the two was broadcast on Sunday, Meghan’s 43rd birthday. This year, too, there were no congratulations from the British royal palace on this occasion.
