In the testimony about his work, Andrea Allen wrote that “He began working in 2014 on a series entitled ‘Territories’, irregular shapes, some of them large-format, which he then drew on improvised stains. An abstract drawing that gradually became figurative and inclined to reflect nature”.
The sculptural forms were also changing to give way to new forms in which polyfan, polyeturane and polyfropilenes are incorporated, which are fused with paper, sawdust and glue. The painting is acrylic, the drawing with ink, pencil and pen. Why do we make this description of the technique used and the materials?
Because today there are no limits in the use of unconventional materials and because we are faced with the work of an artist who forces us to discover what is hidden behind the visible..
A work that is not easy to classify, sculptural objects, ovoid shapes, some like stones found in archaeological sites, others like collapsing totems, landscape graphics, blacks that mix with pure whites and the colors of the forest that call for the ecological but without any pamphletary hints.
Andrea Allen (Buenos Aires, 1967), studied visual arts and graduated as a sculpture teacher in 1991. She attended the workshops of prominent sculptors Enrique Valderey and Oscar Staffora.
He conducted work analysis seminars with Luis Felipe Noah who assisted in its installation “Intertwinings” (2017), National Museum of Fine Arts, as well as for “Facets, Project for Humanity” (2015) and “Coherent Oxymoron” (2014). She settled in Barcelona and, in parallel to her artistic work, she worked in set design and costumes for film, theatre and advertising. She is also a contemporary dance teacher. She has exhibited at the Pabellón de las Artes (UCA), the Ministry of Education, the Argentine Consulate in Barcelona, the Argentine Embassy in Paris and in “The line thinks” (Borges Cultural Center).
He is currently exhibiting again at Rubbers “Traces of abundance”a show that captures the viewer with its subtle drawing, its volumes that are assembled with other forms, and as the American theorist pointed out Arthur Dantowho died in 2013, in his book “What is the art”describes the work of art as a waking dream…destined to be shared…and the possibility of enjoying the same visions that the artists experience….”
