Meg Ryan: Honorary award for her cinematic work

Meg Ryan is awarded an honorary prize at the Sarajevo Film Festival. Her classic “You’ve Got Mail” is also shown there.

After becoming a megastar in the dream factory in the 1990s, Meg Ryan (62) has been relatively quiet in front of the cameras in recent years. However, the US actress, who is best known for romantic comedies such as “When Harry Met Sally”, “When Love Matters” and “Sleepless in Seattle”, will soon be honored for her “outstanding contribution to the art of film”.

Film festival honors Meg Ryan and shows two of her films

Ryan will receive the “Heart of Sarajevo” honorary award at the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival, which takes place from August 16 to 23, 2024. “Meg Ryan had our hearts when she said hello,” says Jovan Marjanović, director of the festival. “She not only enchanted us all with her unforgettable performances, but also demonstrated her skills behind the camera as a director and screenwriter.” It is an honor to be able to present the award to the 62-year-old.

According to a statement from the festival, Meg Ryan will be there and will welcome the audience to an open-air cinema for a screening of her classic “Your Email,” in which she plays the lead role alongside Tom Hanks (68). The romantic comedy was first shown there 25 years ago. In addition, the Hollywood star will speak about his career during an event, and Ryan’s latest film “What Happens Later” will also be shown. She directed the – how could it be otherwise – romantic comedy and co-wrote the screenplay. Ryan also plays a leading role in it alongside “The X-Files” star David Duchovny (63).
