Marius Borg Høiby is said to have attacked a woman in his apartment last weekend. She was subsequently taken to hospital and Mette-Marit’s son was remanded in custody.
The son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit was briefly arrested for an act of violence. According to Norwegian media reports, the 27-year-old is said to have “mentally and physically” abused a woman on Saturday evening. The Norwegian newspaper “Se og Hør” speculated whether the alleged victim was influencer and surfer Rebecca Helberg Arntsen. The Crown Prince’s son had recently appeared intimately with her on social media. Under a photo with her, he wrote: “My girl.”
The police confirmed the incident, but did not give any names to the newspaper. According to the report, the alleged victim is between 20 and 30 years old. The woman was able to escape from the apartment on Frogner Street in Oslo and then called the police.
During an examination at the hospital, doctors diagnosed the woman with a concussion. She had to stay in the hospital for two days, but was released on Monday, the newspaper reports.
Marius Borg Høiby was arrested on Saturday evening and was held in custody for almost two days. The officers carried out a routine blood test to rule out drug influence. The son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit has not yet commented on the case. His lawyer Øyvind Bratlien told the newspaper “VG” that his client was “charged with bodily harm”. The Norwegian royal court has not yet commented on the reports.
Marius Borg Høiby was taken out of town after the incident
After his release, the royal family apparently made sure to remove him from the city and the public eye as quickly as possible. According to reports, Marius Borg Høiby is currently at Skaugum Manor, the residence of the Crown Prince’s family, about 25 kilometers from Oslo.
The incident has thrown the Norwegian royal family’s schedule into disarray. On Tuesday, the Crown Prince couple Haakon and Mette-Marit were due to travel to Paris for the Olympic Games. However, Mette-Marit cancelled the appointment at short notice to stay with her 27-year-old son. She is said to be “shocked” by the events.
Marius Borg Høiby is the result of a previous relationship between his mother Mette-Marit and businessman Morten Borg. Marius was four years old when his mother married Prince Haakon. He was welcomed into the royal family, but was never adopted.
In contrast to his half-siblings Sverre Magnus and Ingrid Alexandra, the 27-year-old is constantly in the headlines – most recently because of his relationship with Norwegian TV starlet Nora Haukland.
