Blake Lively wears Britney Spears’ dress to the film premiere

For the premiere of her new film “It Ends With Us,” Blake Lively wore a Versace dress that Britney Spears had already worn to a fashion show in Milan in 2002. The choice was not accidental, as Lively explains.

Blake Lively was born in 1987 and is part of the generation of millennials who grew up with Britney Spears’ songs. Hits like “Baby one more time” and “Slave 4 u” were probably part of her youth, as they were for many other millennials. Today, Lively is a star in her own right – and has paid fashion tribute to the pop princess, as Spears is often called.

For the premiere of her new film “It Ends With Us,” Lively wore a Versace creation that attentive fans will already be familiar with. Lively chose a colorful, glittery dress from the Italian fashion house that Spears wore to a fashion show in Milan in 2002. “It’s actually Britney’s dress,” she told People magazine. “It was supposed to be at the Smithsonian [Museum] or in the Met [Metropolitan Museum of Art, Anm. d. Red.] hanging, but I wear it.”

On her Instagram account, Lively paid tribute to her musical idol with warm words. “The ultimate queen who made us all shine and write and share our stories,” she said of Spears and shared a picture of Spears in a Versace dress. “Thank you for your example and for helping women tell their stories,” she said. She revealed to “Extra TV” on the red carpet that Spears meant a lot to her.

“She was just someone who represented love and beauty and youth and hard work and determination and strength,” Lively said. “She told her own story the way she did and the way she’s going to do it now with her biopic… Britney has just always meant so much to me. I’m a forever Britney fan,” the actress said.

When she found out that she was allowed to wear Britney’s dress from 2002, she was thrilled.
