Following an acute terror threat, all three of Taylor Swift’s planned concerts in Vienna were cancelled – a scenario that the musician had already feared several years ago.
The organizers of the Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna canceled all three planned concerts on the eve of the first date. “Due to confirmation by government officials of a planned terrorist attack in the Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three planned shows for everyone’s safety,” Barracuda Music said.
Terror threat: Taylor Swift was afraid of exactly this case
For Swift’s many (mostly younger) fans, the cancellation of the concert is likely to be nothing less than a catastrophe. Getting tickets at all was extremely difficult, so the anticipation was huge. But the acute threat is also likely to awaken an old fear in Swift herself. In 2019, the singer wrote a column for the fashion magazine “Elle” about what the terrorist attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester had triggered in her.

On May 22, 2017, there was an explosion in the foyer of the concert arena in the city in the north of England. 23 people, including many young fans, as well as the suicide bomber, were killed. Ariana Grande herself was physically unharmed but traumatized. “After the Manchester Arena bombing and the shooting at the Las Vegas concert, I was very scared to go on tour this time because I didn’t know how we were going to protect three million fans for seven months,” Swift wrote two years later.
Taylor Swift and her belief in the good
But that’s not all: “My fear of violence has also spilled over into my personal life. I carry a QuikClot army bandage with me, which is designed for gunshot or stab wounds,” she explained. She also mentioned her battle against stalkers. “Websites and tabloids have taken it upon themselves to publish every home address I’ve ever had online. When you have enough stalkers trying to break into your house, you kind of set yourself up for bad things to happen,” the singer said.
She therefore tries to remember the good things every day so that her life is not dominated by fear. At the moment, this is probably difficult for Swift.
