A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms of HBO has announced seven more actors and the roles they will play in the prequel to game of Thrones / sequel to House of the Dragon.
Among the news about the cast is an actor who will play Daeron Targaryen. He’s a familiar name (though not a familiar face) to House of the Dragon fans.
But, as often happens in the fantasy world of George R.R. Martinthere is more than one Daeron Targaryen, and this is not the same Daeron that will appear in House of the Dragon.
In A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Daeron will be played by Henry Ashton. This Daeron is also known as Daeron the Drunkard and is the eldest son of King Maekar I Targaryen and is known for having prophetic dreams.
In House of the Dragon, Daeron is the fourth son of King Viserys and Alicent Hightower, who has remained off-screen in the series but is occasionally mentioned.
Daeron’s inclusion in the show has been the subject of much speculation among fans. Dragon showrunner, Ryan Condalhas previously said of the character in his series: “Daeron hasn’t been cast yet. I’ve said he’s a character on the show, but at this point in the story, he’s in Oldtown, where he was rejected as a little boy. So, we don’t have a point-of-view character in that world yet and there’s no dramatic reason to go there.”
Here are the other recently announced cast members for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and their roles:
- Edward Ashley as Ser Steffon Fossoway.
- Youssef Kerkour as Steely Pate.
- Daniel Monks as Ser Manfred Dondarrion.
- Shaun Thomas as Raymun Fossoway.
- Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as Plummer.
- Danny Webb as Ser Arlan of Pennytree.
