Mallorca emigrant Steff Jerkel has apparently suffered shipwreck with his latest restaurant. The sports bar “Sharky’s” is probably on the verge of closure.
The well-known “Goodbye Germany” emigrants Steff Jerkel (54) and Peggy Jerofke (48) have opened a total of nine restaurants on Mallorca over the years. While Jerofke is currently running her restaurant “Tiki Beach” in Cala Ratjada, her new fiancé has pinned his hopes on the sports bar “Sharky’s”. But the latter establishment now seems to be facing insoluble problems.
Steff Jerkel: “If a concept doesn’t work well…”
According to the report, “Sharky’s” was initially temporarily closed in mid-July. However, a planned reopening at the end of July did not materialize. “At the moment it doesn’t look like we’ll be opening again,” Jerkel told the newspaper. He continued: “If a concept isn’t working well, you should pull the ripcord, take a breath, think about why it was like that, and start again and make it better.”
Jerkel’s fiancée Peggy Jerofke also thinks: “It was the right decision. Not just Steff, we all came down.” The sports bar concept did not work out. Now they need to think carefully about the next steps.
Engagement in June for the opening of “Sharky’s”
The famous TV couple sees it as a positive that some employees of “Sharky’s” were able to stay at “Tiki Beach”, which is run by Jerofke. The “Goodbye Germany” stars themselves are increasingly focusing on their family life. “Because health and time are the most important things in life. Nobody gives that back,” says Jerkel, and is happy to be able to spend more time with the family: “We enjoy what we have.”
The restaurant operators Peggy Jerofke and Steff Jerkel became known in 2014 through the VOX show “Goodbye Germany”. The couple met in Arenal in 1998, emigrated to Mallorca in 2009 and opened a Greek restaurant there, which was followed by several more restaurants. Together they moved into the “Sommerhaus der Stars”, in 2023 Peggy Jerofke competed in the “Kampf der Realitystars” on RTLzwei and in December 2023 Steff Jerkel won the second season of “Das große Promi-Büßen” on ProSieben. In 2022 the couple separated briefly and celebrated a love comeback a few months later – including an engagement on June 10, 2024 at the opening of “Sharky’s”.
