Jamie Lee Curtis has received an honorary doctorate from the American Film Institute. The actress sees herself as an “underachiever.”
Jamie Lee Curtis (65) is now Doctor Jamie Lee Curtis: The American Film Institute awarded the US actress an honorary doctorate at its graduation ceremony. Curtis was also the keynote speaker at the event on August 10 at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

“If you look at paper, I shouldn’t even be here,” said the 65-year-old in her speech. “I’m an underachiever who has just been given this incredible honor.” A very modest self-assessment – after all, Curtis, who won her first Oscar in 2023 for “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and has already received numerous other awards, is one of the best-known actresses in Hollywood.
