“You seem immortal to me”: Cathy Lugner said goodbye to her ex-husband Richard Lugner in an emotional Instagram post.
The Austrian building contractor Richard Lugner (1932-2024) has died at the age of 91. His ex-wife Cathy Lugner (34) has now said goodbye to him.
Richard Lugner remains “unforgotten”
“When I received the tragic news of your death this morning, I was in shock,” wrote the 34-year-old, who was called “Spatzi” by Lugner during her marriage. “Richard, you seemed immortal to me too,” explained Cathy Lugner, who published souvenir photos from the time she spent together with her ex-husband. Her daughter, whom she brought into the marriage, can also be seen on them. Lugner’s commitment, his willpower and his courage were inspiring and infectious. “I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the great time at your side, for everything you taught me about life. You will never be forgotten. God bless you. RIP.” Cathy Lugner also posted an old photo of the two of them in an Instagram story and wrote: “I will always be grateful to you for everything you taught me.”
Despite her divorce from the Austrian building contractor, Cathy Schmitz continues to perform as Cathy Lugner. The two were married from 2014 to 2016. In an interview, Cathy “Spatzi” Lugner explained the separation as a result of the lack of opportunity to develop further at his side. In April 2024, Richard Lugner chose more drastic words about his ex-wife: “She was my biggest flop.”
On June 1, Lugner married for the sixth time. He said “I do” to his partner Simone “Bienchen” Reiländer (42) in Vienna. The two had already been engaged to each other for a short time in October 2021. They celebrated their love comeback at Easter 2024. A large church wedding in St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna was planned for the upcoming autumn on his 92nd birthday on October 11.
