The commercial success of Frozen
The original Frozen film became a massive sensation in 2013, generating nearly $1.3 billion worldwide and winning a host of awards, including two Oscars. The 2019 sequel was even more commercially successful with $1.45 billion.sy, until recently, remained the highest-grossing animated film in history. The films about the adventures of royal sisters Anna and Elsa (voiced by Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel) produced inescapably popular songs like “Let It Go” and “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?”as well as a Broadway musical.
Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed in 2023 that the studio is already working on a fourth installment of Frozen. Veteran composers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez will return to write new tunes for the next two films.
“’Frozen 3′ is in the works, and there could be a ‘Frozen 4’ too”he said last year. “But I don’t have much to say about those movies right now. [La directora] Jenn Lee, who created the original ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen 2,’ is hard at work with her Disney animation team on not one, but two stories.”
