Marius Borg Høiby: Ex talks about psychological and physical violence

About a week ago, there was a stir in the Norwegian castle walls because of Marius Borg Høiby. The Crown Prince’s stepson was apparently arrested for physical and psychological violence against a woman. Now his ex-girlfriend is speaking out.

At the moment, the eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit is said to be in hiding on the Skaugum estate, the residence of the Crown Prince’s family, about 25 kilometers from Oslo. On the first weekend in August, there was a scandal involving an unknown woman in Oslo.

A woman – the media assumes that the unknown woman is his girlfriend, surfer Rebecca Helberg Arntsen – is said to have been the victim of psychological and physical violence. Presumably carried out by 27-year-old Marius Borg Høiby. The injured woman called the police after fleeing the scene and went to the hospital herself. She was diagnosed with a concussion.

The royal stepson of Norway was arrested by the police a short time later and had to remain in custody for 30 hours. His lawyer, Øyvind Bratlien, confirmed to the newspaper “VG” that his client was charged with assault.

Marius Borg Høiby’s ex-girlfriend spills the beans on Instagram

But now the atmosphere in the palace is getting a little tense, because an ex-girlfriend of Marius, Juliane Snekkestad, says that the royal son abused her physically and psychologically. In an Instagram story, she writes: “In the past week, I have received a lot of calls, messages and questions about my ex. (…)”. The 29-year-old continues: “Family and friends have known for a long time and I have decided not to remain silent any longer.”

Referring to the countless messages the young woman received about the incident near Oslo, Snekkestad writes: “To answer all questions: Yes, I was previously abused mentally and physically by the person you are talking about. The psychological violence was the worst for me.”

Borg Høiby and Snekkestad were a couple from 2018 to 2022. She herself came into the media because she was accepted into the royal court as a former “Playboy” model. Her motivation for going public with the allegations two years later? She doesn’t want pity, just clarification and to support other women with her confession: “It must stop that more women have to endure something like this. I feel it is my responsibility to speak out.”

To this day, she is still struggling with the psychological consequences of the relationship, says the psychology student: “Years later, despite professional help and with the support of my wonderful family, my fiancé and my friends, I will never be the person I once was.”
