Suri Cruise goes to college: Katie Holmes proud of her daughter before leaving

In a new interview, Katie Holmes reveals how she feels about her daughter Suri now going to college.

She was a support for Katie Holmes (45) after her separation from Tom Cruise (62): Now the daughter of the former acting couple is leaving the nest. 18-year-old Suri Cruise is going to college and her mother talks about how she feels about it in a surprisingly open interview with the magazine “Town & Country”.

On the occasion of her Broadway play entitled “Our Town”, the actress, who is otherwise often media-shy, gave an interview and talked about her feelings as a mother, among other things. “I am proud of my daughter. Of course I will miss being close to her, but I am really proud of her and I am happy,” emphasised the ex-wife of Tom Cruise, from whom she divorced in 2012 in a deal that made headlines.

“It’s exciting to learn something about yourself”

When thinking about Suri’s first days at college, Holmes, known from “Dawson’s Creek” among other things, remembers her own time as a student at Columbia University: “I remember that age, that time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn something about yourself and I loved that time.”

The 18-year-old is unlikely to attend her mother’s university. According to media reports, in a video on TikTok a few weeks ago, Suri was seen wearing a sweatshirt from Carnegie Mellon University, a private research university in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

What will Suri Cruise study?

According to speculation, Suri is particularly interested in art. In the current interview, however, Holmes did not confirm the rumors that her daughter is said to want to study fashion. As always, Holmes keeps her own private life and that of her daughter away from the public eye as much as possible.

“Mission: Impossible” star Tom Cruise, who in addition to Suri also has daughter Isabella (31) and son Connor (29) with Nicole Kidman (57), apparently does not play a major role in his youngest daughter’s life, according to various media reports. According to an article in the “Los Angeles Times” at the time, Suri gave up her last name for her high school graduation in June and chose “Suri Noelle” instead of “Suri Cruise”. Noelle is her mother’s middle name. Tom Cruise did not show up for the graduation ceremony and was instead seen shortly afterwards at a concert by Taylor Swift (34).
