Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg has had a special work of art made: a sculpture of his wife. The figure is surprising in several ways.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has given his wife Priscilla Chan an oversized gift: He had a statue made for her that looks like Chan herself. On Instagram, Zuckerberg shared a photo showing his wife in front of the work in a garden. The sculpture towers over its human counterpart, its body is turquoise and covered by a kind of silver-colored veil. “I’m bringing back the Roman tradition of making sculptures of one’s own wife,” wrote the 40-year-old. However, the entrepreneur did not specify which tradition he meant. In ancient Rome, gods, rulers and heroes were particularly popular subjects for statues.
The 39-year-old is wearing a pink bathrobe in the photo and is holding a cup that is as turquoise as the statue. Chan also shared the photo in her Instagram story. “I can’t be missed!” she wrote. The artist Daniel Arsham, who according to Zuckerberg created the sculpture, also showed the photo on his Instagram account.
The head of the Meta Corporation and the pediatrician met as students at Harvard University. The couple married in 2012 and have three daughters together.
