Richard Lugner will be buried on August 31st in the presence of family and friends. Before that, however, everyone will have the opportunity to say goodbye.

Richard “Mörtel” Lugner was considered an absolute Viennese original. Accordingly, his hometown bid him a fitting farewell. On Monday, the entrepreneur and builder Lugner died at the age of 91. There is talk that Lugner “passed away peacefully”.

His family has also now announced the first details of the planned funeral service. The actual burial will take place on Saturday, August 31st, in the presence of close family and friends.

Beforehand, a memorial service will be held at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna from 9 a.m., including a public display of the body. “All Viennese, all of Austria and beyond” are invited to say goodbye to Lugner together, it continues.

The funeral procession will then continue to the Lugner City shopping center, where the public part of the funeral ceremony will end. The actual burial will then take place at the Grinzing cemetery after a service in the Kaasgraben church in the Döbling district.

In addition, a condolence book will now be available in Lugner City on the main square so that everyone has the opportunity to express their condolences. There will also be an online condolence book for those who cannot come in person.
