He invented “the ketchup of chili sauces”. Ed Sheeran even distributes pizza in front of a supermarket for his brand Tingly Ted’s.
Huge crowds gathered around a bright orange food truck in a supermarket parking lot in London: Pop star Ed Sheeran (33) was serving his own “Tingly Ted’s Hot Sauce” in it. Like the British , the musician really heated up the astonished passers-by with his chili sauce.
On Tuesday, August 13, he drove up in the Tingly Ted’s truck in front of the London Colney Store shopping centre in Hertfordshire and served surprised passers-by pizza slices with his sauce as they did their weekly shop – garnished, of course, with a broad smile from the singer. Ed Sheeran even strolled into the shopping centre’s Sainsbury’s supermarket to sell his sauce to people directly from the spice rack.
“It was super exciting”
In the shop, he also signed everything from blocks of cheese and CDs to kitchen roll for his fans, wearing a casual white shirt with the teddy print of his sauce label. “It was super exciting to turn up in a Sainsbury’s and surprise some shoppers,” said the Brit after his unexpected appearance and advertised in a businesslike manner: “Tingly Ted’s has been such a fun project so far, I hope everyone enjoys mixing it up with the food they like. I’m still discovering meals that Tingly Ted makes even better.”
Tingly Ted’s (owned by food company Heinz) was launched in March 2023 and offers two sauces in the flavors “Tingly” and “Xtra Tingly” for the equivalent of 3.49 euros per bottle. In 2019, Sheeran had already launched his own limited edition ketchup with Heinz and called it Edchup. The sauce lover even had a bottle of Heinz ketchup tattooed on his arm.
Sheeran loves surprises
The British singer is known for his unannounced appearances: In September 2023, the father of two daughters burst into a wedding in Las Vegas and shocked the bride and groom. Earlier this year, he surprised British primary school students by giving a mini-concert in their classroom.
