A few hours before the concert begins: Usher has to postpone the start of the tour

Usher had to cancel his tour start just hours before his performance in his hometown of Atlanta.

The US R&B singer Usher (45) gave his fans some sad news last Wednesday (14 August). The musician cancelled his first performance in Atlanta just hours before the start of his “Past Present Future” tour. In a lengthy statement, he explained the reason for the cancellation.

Usher wants to give his “physical best”

“In my career spanning more than 30 years, I have dedicated 100 percent of my blood, sweat and tears to delivering the best performance and giving my fans an unforgettable experience,” reads the statement published on Instagram. He intends to do the same on this tour and therefore has to “postpone the show tonight and move it to a later date to give my body time to rest and heal,” explained the singer.

“You’ll still get a little of the past, a little of the present and a unique glimpse into the future on the rescheduled date, but you’ll also get 100 percent of me,” Usher said, addressing the tour’s “Past Present Future” theme and further expressing his regret over the cancellation: “The last thing I ever want to do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly awaiting the start of this tour. But I wouldn’t be the entertainer I am if I couldn’t give you my best physically.” The singer has to recover from an unspecified injury.

His next two performances are also planned for the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, but it is currently unclear whether the two concerts on Friday (August 16) and Saturday (August 17) can take place. This will be followed by further concerts in the USA and Canada in the fall. European concerts have been announced for 2025, including in London, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin. The shows in Berlin’s Uber Arena are scheduled for May 1, 2 and 4.
