Trip abroad: Prince Harry and Meghan on the subject of cyberbullying in Colombia

Harry and Meghan are taking part in events in Colombia that focus on the dangers of online discrimination for minors. They recently founded a network.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have arrived in Colombia for a visit. The couple will primarily attend events on the subject of cyberbullying. It is the couple’s second official trip abroad this year. In May, Meghan and Harry visited Nigeria, a West African country.

In the capital Bogotá, they were welcomed by Vice President Francia Marquez at her residence. The purpose of their visit was to “make visible and address a problem that affects all of humanity today,” said Marquez. Cyberbullying and discrimination on the Internet are issues that endanger the mental health of all people.

Recently founded support network for parents

Harry (39) and Meghan (43) recently founded a support network for parents because of their own experiences with online harassment. The network wants to ensure that internet companies and politicians make greater efforts to protect young users from harassment, the website says.

Meghan first spoke about her suicidal thoughts three years ago in a conversation with presenter Oprah Winfrey during her withdrawal from the British royal family. Before the break with his brother Prince William (42), Harry had worked with him on the issue of mental health.

Travelling to various cities in Colombia until Sunday

The couple will be in Bogotá, Cartagena and Cali until Sunday. There will be meetings with young people, women and leaders in social professions. The royals also want to meet the Colombian team that will take part in the Invictus Games in February 2025. Harry founded the sports competition for war-disabled soldiers.

Since they gave up their royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan no longer travel on behalf of the crown or the British government. Nevertheless, they receive a lot of attention from politicians and the media during their trips abroad.
