Jennifer Lopez has apparently now made the decision to end her marriage with Ben Affleck. She is said to have filed for divorce.
Jennifer Lopez (55) filed for divorce from husband Ben Affleck (52) on Tuesday (August 20). This is reported by the magazine, citing confirmation from several sources. The US gossip portal had previously reported on this. According to “People”, Lopez personally filed the divorce with the Los Angeles County Superior Court and specified April 26, 2024 as the separation date.
Lopez and Affleck were married in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022. A large and more traditional wedding ceremony followed in Georgia on August 20, 2022. J.Lo has now apparently chosen the second anniversary of these celebrations to file divorce papers after the state of her marriage to Ben Affleck caused speculation for months.
There is probably no marriage contract
According to TMZ, the documents do not reveal whether there is a prenuptial agreement between the couple. Sources apparently report that there is no prenuptial agreement between Bennifer. This would mean that all income and profits that the couple earned during their almost two-year marriage would be joint property.
J.Lo is “heartbroken”
The divorce seems to be a bitter blow for Jennifer Lopez. An insider told People: “She has really tried to make everything work and is heartbroken. The children are her top priority, as always.”
Another quotes a source as saying that Affleck has given “no indication” that he wants to continue their marriage. “He has shown no commitment or interest in making their marriage work,” it says. Lopez has therefore come to the painful conclusion that “it’s time to move on.”
The two Hollywood stars became a couple again in 2021, 17 years after they broke off their engagement and canceled their wedding planned for September 2003. They got engaged again in 2022 and married in the summer of the same year. Affleck had previously been married once and Lopez three times.
Jennifer Lopez has twins Max and Emme (16) from her marriage to Marc Anthony (55), with whom she was married from 2004 to 2014. Ben Affleck has three children Violet (18), Fin (15) and Samuel (12) from his marriage to Jennifer Garner (52), with whom he was married from 2005 to 2018.
