Alain Delon wanted to be buried in a small circle. He will now be buried on Saturday at his estate in central France in the presence of his children. Around 40 mourners are expected.
According to media reports, French film legend Alain Delon will be buried on Saturday in the presence of his closest family and friends. The funeral will take place at his estate La Brûlerie in Douchy, central France. According to information from the news channel BFMTV, it will begin at 5 p.m. Only his three children Anthony, Anouchka and Alain-Fabien and around forty guests will be present. Delon (“The Cruel Angel”, “The Swimming Pool”) died on Sunday at the age of 88.
The burial will take place in the chapel built by the actor on his huge estate, next to his numerous dogs who are buried there.
Delon had wanted a quiet funeral on his property. He had made it clear several times that he did not want a national homage like those given to Jean-Paul Belmondo or Johnny Hallyday. A home burial is permitted in France under strict conditions.
Monsignor Jean-Michel Di Falco, former bishop of Gap, will hold the funeral service. He will officiate “at the request” of the deceased actor, he told the French news agency AFP.
