His daughter Casie (15) persuaded Machine Gun Kelly (34) to quit alcohol. The rapper checked himself into a rehab clinic last year. “It started with my daughter saying: ‘Daddy, you know I can tell when you’re high?’ That broke my heart,” she said.
For Colson Barker, aka Machine Gun Kelly, this was the “ultimate disillusionment.” “It took me a while afterward because drugs obviously have a firm grip on you,” the singer continued.
He wants to “break the generational curse”
“As a father and as a man, in order to be the father I would have wanted my father to be, I have to break this generational curse for my child,” he said, describing his motivation. He had Casie in July 2009 with his then partner Emma Cannon. This month, Machine Gun Kelly celebrated one year of abstinence, as he revealed in early August. His on-off partner Meghan Fox (38) was not least responsible for this. The actress helped him “to cope with the psychological withdrawal symptoms that accompany drug withdrawal.”
In the clinic, he also learned “where the anger comes from.” The doctors gave him coping methods. He had previously taken not only alcohol, but also pills and marijuana. In 2020, he revealed that he had been addicted to the drug Adderall, an amphetamine.
